Day by day

Day 1

Arrive in Beijing

Arrival and gentle orientation. If time allows, take an evening walk to feel the rhythm of the capital.

Day 2

Forbidden City and Tiananmen area

Explore the ceremonial heart of Beijing, then continue into historic lanes where courtyard life gives the city a more intimate scale.

Day 3

The Great Wall

Travel out of the city to the Great Wall. Walk along restored watchtowers and learn why this landscape became a symbol of China.

Day 4

Temple of Heaven and train to Xi’an

Visit the Temple of Heaven and its surrounding park before taking a high-speed train to Xi’an.

Day 5

Terracotta Warriors

Spend the day with the Terracotta Army, one of the world’s great archaeological discoveries, then return to the old city.

Day 6

Xi’an city walls and Muslim Quarter

Walk or cycle the ancient city wall and explore the food streets and cultural mix of the Muslim Quarter.

Day 7

Departure

Final free time before onward travel.
